Building Your Village: From PCES to PTs

Building Your Village: From PCES to PTs

You don't have to DIY your postpartum recovery. Discover the professionals who can help you return to exercise safely and strongly.

They say it takes a village to raise a child, but I believe it takes a village to rebuild a mother. In the modern world, we’re often expected to go through pregnancy and postpartum in isolation. We get our 15-minute OB appointments and then we’re sent home to "figure it out." This "DIY recovery" is why so many women end up with chronic pain or issues they think are just "part of being a mom."

Who Should Be in Your Village?

  1. Pelvic Floor Physical Therapists (PFPT): These are the gold standard. They can perform internal exams to tell you exactly what your muscles are doing. I recommend every pregnant woman see one at least once before birth.
  2. Corrective Exercise Specialists (PCES): That’s where I come in. While a PT is like a "doctor" for your pelvic floor, I am like the "coach." I bridge the gap between rehab and getting back to the high-level activities you love, like running half-marathons or lifting.
  3. Community: Whether it’s a group of other active moms or a supportive partner, you need people who understand that your health matters as much as the baby’s.

Don't Settle for "Good Enough"

If you’re feeling "off," don't let someone tell you it’s "just pregnancy." If you’re worried about returning to exercise, seek out an expert who has the credentials (like a Kinesiology degree) and the experience to guide you. You wouldn't try to fix your own car engine; don't try to DIY your internal recovery.

We are here to help you get back to being the active, strong person you were before—and maybe even stronger.
